Attendance and Absence

A) Attendance

  1. Students are not allowed to leave the school premises during the school day unless necessary. All Students are expected to attend regularly and to be on time for their classes. Regular attendance is necessary if Students want to be successful at Bardy and in life.
  2. Students may be excused from attendance only in dire cases. An excused absence will be granted only after a note is received from the Parent/guardian of the Student. Students with excused absences will be allowed to make up for the work they missed. Students whose absences are unexcused may or may not be allowed to make up for their work. This is at the discretion of the subject Supervisor.
  3. In normal circumstances, Students are not allowed to attend the end of year exams unless they attend 85% of the days of the academic year.
  4. In case of a student’s early leave, a written permission from the Parent/ guardian must be presented to the Administration Office in the morning indicating the time and reason that the Student need to leave school. Parents, who would like to pick up their Students before the end of the normal school hours, should sign an early leave from the Administration Office to be granted and given at the gate. Early leave is not permitted by phone calls.
  5. Using the front gate is not allowed for the Parents from 1:30 pm to enable the school buses to be ready for departure.
  6. The root of success lies within the regular attendance.

B) Absence

  1. All Bardy Student attendance is recorded at the beginning of each class.
  2. Pass System: The Administration Office issues a standard form pass to all Teachers to be used by Students when moving throughout the school campus during class time.
  3. Tardiness Policy: Students who are tardy (late) to school must get a tardy slip from the Administration Office. Students who are tardy four times will be counted as a one day absence in his/her record.
  4. An absence limit has been set for all Students. Any Students who is absent for more than three (3) consecutive days, is required to present at the Administration Office with a valid doctors note.
  5. For traveling reasons, the Parents need to inform the Administration Office (in writing) about the duration and the reason(s) for traveling, in advance. (A formal letter is requested)
  6. A Student is to be expelled from the school if he/she surpasses a number of 15 consecutive days or 20 non consecutive days mentioned following the 19th and the 20th articles of the Education Law # 420 in Egypt. An exception is to be made in case of presenting a medical note from a public hospital.

C) Examination Period Attendance

  1. If a Student is absent without a valid excuse during the midyear exams or the final exams, the Student will not receive a mark but is allowed to take the re-exam.
  2. If a Student is absent with a valid excuse during the mid year exams in one or more subjects, the Student has the right to retake a different exam(s) after the final exams which will be included in his final grade. This will go along with Student portfolio, summer school work, activities, attendance and oral participation.
  3. If a Student is absent during the final exams in one or more subjects with a valid excuse, the Student has the right to retake a different exam(s) after the academic year in the summer only on the material covered in the second term.
    • The final grade will be produced by combining the midyear exam and the retake exam grades. This grade will also include Student portfolio, summer school work, activities, attendance and oral participation.
  4. The school has a summer program specialized for those Students who need further development in certain subjects in order to improve their educational level.
